Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information AudioRecorder.Net ("we", "us", "our") collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the website at audiorecorder.net, including the online audio recorder and online audio editor.

Summary

  • Your recordings and audio files are processed on your device. We do not upload them and we cannot hear them.
  • We do not require an account and we do not ask for your name or email to use the tools.
  • We show ads, including ads from Google AdSense. Ad partners may use cookies and similar technologies, and we explain the choices you have below.
  • You can contact us at any time at contact@audiorecorder.net.

Your audio stays on your device

When you press Record, your browser asks for permission to use your microphone. If you allow it, the audio is captured and processed locally in your browser tab. When you open a file in the editor, the file is read and decoded locally. Cutting, trimming, fading, normalizing and exporting to WAV or MP3 all happen on your device.

We do not transmit the contents of your recordings or files to our servers or to any third party, and we do not have access to them. Your microphone permission is controlled by your browser and operating system, and you can revoke it at any time in their settings.

Information stored on your device

To make the tools work, the site stores a small amount of data in your browser:

  • Your saved recordings and their details (such as name, length and creation time) are kept in your browser using IndexedDB, so they are still there when you return. This data never leaves your device.
  • Your display preference (light or dark theme) is kept in your browser local storage.

You can delete this data at any time from the recordings list or by clearing site data in your browser settings. Clearing it permanently removes your saved recordings, so download anything you want to keep first.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically receives technical information when your browser requests a page. This can include your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser type, version and operating system. This information is used to deliver the site, keep it secure, prevent abuse and diagnose errors. It is held in standard server and security logs for a limited period.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We display advertising to fund the free tools. Ads may be provided by Google AdSense and other advertising partners. These third parties are separate data controllers for the information they collect through ads.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads on this site.
  • Google uses advertising cookies, such as the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • Ads may be personalized, based on your interests and past activity, or non-personalized, based on context such as the page content and your general location.
  • Advertising partners may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers, browser details and the ads you view or click, in order to deliver, limit the frequency of, measure and secure ads and to detect fraud.

You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ad Settings. You can also opt out of the use of cookies for personalized advertising by many other vendors at aboutads.info, at the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page, or, if you are in Europe, at Your Online Choices.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files that a website or a third party places on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, device identifiers and pixels. We use storage that is strictly necessary for the tools to work, and our advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies for advertising and measurement. Our Cookie Policy lists the categories in detail and explains how to control them.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money. We share limited technical information only as described here:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that deliver and secure the site on our behalf.
  • Advertising partners, including Google, that serve and measure ads, as described above.
  • Authorities or other parties where we are required to do so by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect rights, safety and security.
  • A successor, if the site is transferred as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply unless you are told otherwise.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Because your recordings are never sent to us, we cannot access, export or delete them for you. You can manage them yourself in the recordings list or through your browser settings. To exercise any other right, write to contact@audiorecorder.net.

Notice for California and other US states

If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Utah or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We do not knowingly sell personal information for money. Allowing advertising partners to collect identifiers through ads may be considered "sharing" or a "sale" under some state laws. You can opt out by using Google Ad Settings, by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, or by writing to contact@audiorecorder.net. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children's privacy

The tools are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not ask for accounts, names or email addresses. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact contact@audiorecorder.net and we will take appropriate steps. Ads shown on the site are not intended for child-directed treatment.

How long we keep information

Recordings and preferences stored in your browser stay until you delete them or clear your browser data. Server and security logs are kept only for as long as needed for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting, and are then deleted or anonymized. Advertising partners keep information according to their own retention policies.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we handle. Because recordings stay on your device, their security also depends on your device. Keep your operating system and browser up to date and protect your device with a passcode. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

International transfers

Our hosting and advertising partners operate globally, so technical information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we change how the site works or when the law changes. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top of the page, and where changes are significant we will make that clear on the site.
