Cutting MP3 Online

This is an MP3 cutter that runs in your browser tab. Open an MP3 or drag one in, select the part you want to keep or remove, then cut it, trim it or fade it. When it sounds right, download the result as an MP3.

People use an MP3 cutter to make a ringtone from a favorite song, chop the intro off a podcast episode, pull a short clip out of a long recording or take the silence off the start of a track. You see the waveform, so you can find the exact spot instead of guessing at timestamps.

Your MP3 is decoded and edited on your own device and is never uploaded, which matters if it is an interview or anything private. The buttons are sized for fingers, so cutting on a phone works, though a mouse is still quicker for precise selections.

How to Cut an MP3 File

  1. Open an MP3 recording from your library, or drag an MP3 file onto the editor. It appears as a waveform you can zoom and scroll.

  2. Drag across the waveform to select the part you want to cut. Press play to hear just that part before you change anything.

  3. Cut the selection out, or trim to keep only the selection. You can also split it, apply a fade, normalize the volume or remove silence. Every change can be undone.

The fade menu open above the selection, with a length slider and Linear, Smooth and Exponential curves
  4. Choose L or R to hear and edit one channel of a stereo MP3 on its own, or leave both selected to work on the whole file.

  5. Leave the format on MP3 and press Download to save the cut file to your device.

Features of the MP3 Cutter

Cut, trim and split MP3
Select a range and delete it, or keep only that range and throw the rest away. Split divides the clip into separate pieces. If you missed by a few milliseconds, drag either edge of the selection.
Fades you can hear while you set them
Open the fade menu, drag the length and pick a curve. It changes while the audio plays, so there is no apply button and no restarting to compare. A short fade keeps a cut from clicking.
Normalize and remove silence
Normalize raises a quiet MP3 to a sensible peak level. Trim silence drops the long gaps. The volume control handles the rest.
Left and right on their own
Switch the target to L or R and every edit only touches that side. Both lanes stay on screen, the unused one dims, and playback plays just the side you picked. Go back to L+R to hear everything again.
Markers, undo and looping
Drop a marker where something happens, loop a selection to check a cut, and undo anything you regret.
MP3 download
MP3 is the first format under the waveform. Press Download to save a small file that is easy to share or use as a ringtone. WAV is still in the menu if you want a lossless copy.

FAQ

Is this online MP3 cutter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and exported files carry no watermark.

Is my MP3 file uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser decodes and edits the file and the result is built on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Does cutting an MP3 lose quality?

The file is decoded for editing and encoded again as MP3 when you download it, so there is one extra round of MP3 compression. At the default bitrate it is hard to hear. Choose WAV if you need a lossless copy.

Can I make a ringtone with it?

Yes. Select the part of the song you want, trim to keep only that selection, add a short fade at the end and download the MP3.

What can I export to?

MP3 is the first and default format. WAV is also available when you want full quality. Use the format menu under the waveform, then press Download.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The buttons are big enough to tap. Selecting an exact range is easier with a mouse, but cutting, fading and downloading are fine on a phone.
